DO I NEED TO TRAIN FOR THIS RIDE?
YES. Even though this is a ride and not a race, both routes require some degree of fitness and experience on the bike. We suggest that you are able to ride 32-miles a week to take on the Sport Route, at least 62 miles a week for the metric Route, and at least 72 miles a week for the Challenge Route. In addition, the Challenege Route contains a steep climb that requires proper trainging.

WILL SOMEONE CHECK OUT MY BIKE AT THE EVENT?
I am not mechanically inclined - will someone be there to check-out my bike on Saturday before the event? No. There will be mechanical aid at the Saturday Reg/Start and along the route, which will be able to make simple adjustments, pump tires and fix flats. HOWEVER, they do not have the time or tools to make big repairs. It is YOUR responsibility to use a bike that is mechanically fit. If you are not sure, take it to your local bike shop or to one of our Bike Shop Partners and have them check it out.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE HILLS
Is this ride "hilly"? What can I do to prepare?
- YES, the rides are considered hilly. Two things will help you: 1) Ride hills the months before if possible; and, 2) Go to your bike shop and have them put on the proper gearing for riding up hills. It might also help to learn some of the technique used by good riders to climb hills.

HOW SLOW CAN I GO?
What happens if my pace is very slow - can I continue to ride no matter what? Please note the course cut-off times. Aid stations close at a certain time, signs are picked up and the vehicles no longer patrol. These are public roads, however, and you may proceed but there will no longer be event support available.

REST STOPS
What can I expect at the rest stops? - Water, replacement fluid, ice, fruit, breads and salty snacks, toilets and basic medical and mechanical aid.
